3 Questions about Research Paper

1. When I have an entire paragraph using one source and I already do the in-text citation once, is it necessary to include it with every sentence that I take from the source?

2. When we include our opinions are we supposed to keep it formal without literally stating "this is my opinion?"

  1. 1. No, when you cite a source once, as long as it is the source that follows, you can continue to reference it in quotes w/o needing to continue. However if it is a book or something that has pages in it, the individual page numbers must be referenced.

    2. Remember the entire paper is your opinion! Anything that isn't fact or quoted is your opinion, so the greatest part is you never have to say "This is what I think"!

  2. 1. It depends on the information in the paragraph. If you're quoting or paraphrasing, it needs to be cited. If you are interpreting or analyzing within the paragraph as well, that doesn't need to be cited.

    2. David is correct. Be direct and just state your opinion without any sort of "In my opinion" clause.
