The genre I chose is guitar (player) magazines. I chose this genre because I have played guitar since I was a kid, and I continue to play to this day. I am most interested in the lessons that are featured, and interviews with the legendary players.
The general rules of the genre are to include pictures of the kings of guitar (Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc). Included are lessons, or tabs of the favorite songs from these kings. In addition they also include a full complement of new gear reviews, as well as a mass of advertisements. I am a gear junkie, (I have at least ten guitars and several amps) so even the advertisements are enormously intriguing.
I always start by creating an outline of my paper. It makes it so much easier, because it provides me with a better platform for brainstorming. An outline allows me to focus on the key areas that I would like to write about. An outline also allows me to arrange my thoughts in a logical manner that flows from one topic to another.
ReplyDeleteWriting usually consists of transcribing my initial thoughts on paper. Typing is a hindrance, because I am not very good at it. Typing slows down the process because my fingers just can’t keep up with my thoughts. By the time my fingers are ready to punch the keys. I have to remember my thoughts and it does not always happen as I would prefer.
During the drafting period I have to print the document in order to see it better. I then mark the hard copy with what I would like to revise. This seems like an extra step, but I just seem to be able to read better from a real piece of paper.
